Testing the Moral Foundations Questionnaire within a Muslim society: a study among young adults in Pakistan

Abstract This paper examines the psychometric properties of 30-item Moral Foundations Questionnaire among a sample 370 young adults between ages 18 and 26 years who were born in Punjab had lived there since their birth. Initial analyses did not support internal consistency reliability five scales moral predispositions proposed by this measure. Exploratory factor analysis confirmatory identified two factors that distinguished areas predisposition, but styles items (relevance judgement), each which included all predispositions. Correlations with personal religiosity suggested scale comprising 12 judgement (α = .88) was susceptible to religious sentiment, relevance .89) not. The is commended for further testing application within Muslim societies.
